How to Apply

For specific eligibility requirements, please refer to the GME benefits, requirements and resources page.

Our residency program only accepts applications through the AAMC’s Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). ERAS collects the required materials and then transmits these documents from your medical school to our residency program. We do not require any materials beyond the ERAS requirements. The University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville department of internal medicine in Jacksonville also participates in the National Residency Matching Program.

If you are interested in applying for a PGY-1 in internal medicine and a PGY-2 in neurology, the following required documents must be provided to ERAS:

  • ERAS common application form
  • A personal statement
  • Three current letters of recommendation:
    • One from a neurology physician at your medical school or a neurology physician who has been involved in your education.
    • Two from physicians who are familiar with your work or abilities.
  • Dean’s letter (downloaded from your school on Nov. 1)
  • Official medical school transcript
  • USMLE or COMLEX score report
  • Curriculum vitae

We are an advanced program but do not require a separate interview for the preliminary PGY-1 internal medicine position. If you are interested in both programs, please make sure to check both programs under the tab “Programs” of the ERAS application. Applicants who MATCH with our program are also guaranteed a PGY-1 position in internal medicine if they elect to conduct their preliminary year on our campus.

Please do not mail any documents to us unless we request them from you directly.

Deadline

The deadline for submitting your completed application is Dec. 31.

Interviews

On the evening preceding the interview, interviewees are invited to attend a virtual question and answer session with several of our neurology residents. On the day of the interview, all applicants attend a virtual programmatic overview session that is conducted by the neurology chair and neurology program director from 12:30pm to 2pm EST. During this session, there is also a presentation conducted by a junior resident that is focused on PGY1 training at UF Health Jacksonville. Each applicant will interview with the neurology program director, one of the neurology associate program directors, and a core neurology faculty member. Each of the three interviews is approximately 20 minutes, occurring in a window between 2pm and 5pm EST. In between interviews, junior and senior residents are in the “waiting room” to answer questions about the program, the city, and their favorite restaurants and weekend activities.
