UF Health Jacksonville

The 623-licensed-bed UF Health Jacksonville academic health center operates the only Level I trauma center in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. UF Health Jacksonville’s aeromedical transport system, TraumaOne, is also used for patients with acute ischemic strokes. Patients transported by TraumaOne are evaluated for intravenous thrombolysis and/or thrombectomy. On the ground, our Mobile Stroke Treatment Unit provides immediate care in the community, often beginning treatment while in transit. In addition, the neurology department operates a six-bed inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit.
Neuroscience Institute

Located one block south of the main hospital in UF Health Jacksonville Tower I, the UF Health Neuroscience Institute encompasses three floors and contains the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville departments of neurology and neurosurgery, the institute’s research office, EEG and EMG services, and neurology resident offices. In addition, the neurology department operates a variety of programs including: an Epilepsy surgery program as part of our Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, a deep brain stimulation program for our patients with Movement disorders and Parkinson’s, a multidisciplinary Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Certified Treatment Center of Excellence, and a Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Program.
UF Health Shands Hospital

With 570 beds, UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville serves as a major referral center for tertiary pediatric cases. The campus is approximately 80 miles from Jacksonville. Free housing opportunities are available to residents rotating at the Gainesville campus.
UF McKnight Brain Institute
The McKnight Brain Institute is located at the University of Florida’s Gainesville campus and is one of the country’s largest institutions devoted to basic research focusing on the nervous system.
